Terms of Use

Texas Sober Home Guide by White Owl Rising (the “App”) is an independent community information directory serving Texas. These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern your use of the App.

White Owl Rising is an unincorporated project operated by Lance Taylor in Texas. In these Terms, “White Owl Rising,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to White Owl Rising and its operator.

Version: 2026.10.13-release.3 · Effective: October 13, 2026 · Last Updated: October 13, 2026

This revised version is effective October 13, 2026 (America/Chicago). Its new provisions are prospective, not retroactive. Original Terms effective date (history): August 11, 2026.

Emergencies

The App is not an emergency service and no one monitors it in real time. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, or there is a medical emergency, call 911. For mental-health, suicide, emotional-distress, or substance-use crisis support, call or text 988.

Informational Purpose Only — No Professional Advice

The App is provided for informational and educational purposes only. Nothing in the App is medical, clinical, mental-health, legal, financial, housing, employment, or any other professional advice, and using the App does not create a professional, treatment, counseling, or fiduciary relationship with White Owl Rising. Decisions about detox, medication, treatment, housing, money, transportation, or legal matters should be made with a qualified professional.

We Are Independent

White Owl Rising is an independent community resource project. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Alcoholics Anonymous, AA World Services, any AA group, Narcotics Anonymous, Al-Anon, Celebrate Recovery, or any treatment, housing, medical, employment, church, or community provider listed in the App.

Directory Listings

We are not a housing operator, inspector, placement agent, or licensing authority. “Information Reviewed” means a dated review of public-source information, not an inspection, safety certification, or assurance of licensure or current availability. Reviewed listings can still be inaccurate or outdated. Where location or distance is displayed, it may be approximate; a map or distance is not a promise of a precise house location or permission to visit a private residence.

Listings are compiled from publicly available sources and community submissions. Hours, addresses, phone numbers, meeting times, eligibility rules, bed availability, prices, and program details change frequently and may be inaccurate or out of date.

  • The directory is informational and educational only, and is not medical, legal, financial, or professional advice.
  • We make no guarantee of accuracy, availability, licensing, eligibility, prices, safety, or outcomes.
  • A listing does not imply endorsement, certification, ownership, affiliation, or partnership.
  • You must verify services, cost, eligibility, licensing, and safety directly with the organization before you rely on or travel to it.
  • Independent treatment, housing, meeting, employer, church, and community providers remain solely responsible for their own conduct, services, staff, facilities, and compliance with law.

If something is wrong, closed, unsafe, or should not be listed, please report it for review. Reports are not continuously monitored, and a response or resolution time is not guaranteed. Use 911 or 988 for emergencies.

No Referral Fees or Undisclosed Preferential Placement

White Owl Rising does not accept referral fees, patient-brokering payments, per-bed payments, or commissions in exchange for listing, ranking, or referring a person to any treatment, detox, sober living, medical, or employment provider. We do not sell placement in the recovery directories. If a page is ever sponsored, commercial, or paid, it will be clearly identified as such on that page.

Public Resource Access and Voluntary Support

Public resource pages and emergency actions are free without an account or PIN. New public signup is disabled; existing account access is unchanged. AI tools and paid in-app services, including Stripe card support, are inactive. The private Toolkit is free during beta but requires the local agreement step and a PIN.

Help Grow the Guide links to external Venmo and Cash App for voluntary support. Their terms and privacy rules apply. Support does not buy admission, housing placement, access priority, or a preferred listing. We make no tax-deductibility promise.

Public Submissions

By voluntarily submitting resource information for directory review, you give White Owl Rising a narrow, nonexclusive permission to review, verify, edit for clarity or accuracy, and publish that submitted resource information for the directory. This is not a transfer of ownership, and does not grant rights to your private Toolkit writing or private communications. Submissions are reviewed, never automatically published; publication, a response, or a response time is not guaranteed.

Submit only information you are entitled to provide. Do not include sensitive patient information, private treatment records, or other people's personal data. Forms and messages are not emergency channels and are not continuously monitored.

Effective October 13, 2026: Help Grow the Guide resource, event and correction submissions and employer experience submissions require you to check, for each submission, that you are 13 or older, that you agree to these Terms, that you have read the Privacy Policy, and that you give the publication permission described in the form. Our server checks those choices and the current Terms, Privacy and form-notice versions before saving anything, then stores only those versions, your four yes answers and the server receipt time with the submission. That receipt records what the form received; it is not a signature and does not verify identity or age. For resource submissions, your name and email are used for review and follow-up and are not published by default. Employer experiences require no name, email or account. Contact, privacy-rights requests, error reports and emergency help do not require agreeing to these Terms.

Children and Minors

Public information in the App — emergency help, directories, daily readings, prayers and other public resources — can be viewed by anyone without an age check.

You must be 13 or older to use interactive features: the private Recovery Toolkit, accounts, and public submission forms. These features ask you to confirm “I am 13 or older”; we do not collect your date of birth, and that statement is not age verification or proof of compliance with any law.

Children under 13 may browse public resources, ideally with a parent or guardian, but may not use the private Toolkit, accounts, or submission features. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information to us, contact us at whiteowlrisingofficial@gmail.com and we will review and delete it as required by applicable law.

We encourage users under 18 to involve a parent, legal guardian, counselor, healthcare professional, or another trusted adult when making decisions involving treatment, housing, health, safety, money, or transportation.

Acceptable Use

  • Use the App lawfully and for your own recovery or to help someone else.
  • Do not scrape, bulk-copy, republish, or resell the directory data.
  • Do not submit false, harassing, defamatory, or misleading information through any form.
  • Do not attempt to access accounts, data, or systems that are not yours.

We may remove content or restrict access when these rules are broken.

Accounts

New public account creation is not currently offered. Existing accounts continue to work and existing data is unchanged. If you have an account, you are responsible for keeping your login secure and for the accuracy of what you enter. We do not guarantee that saved content will be preserved, recoverable, or continuously available, and we may change or remove features at any time.

Free Beta

White Owl Rising is currently being offered as a free beta. Features, resource information, and functionality are still being tested and may contain errors, change, or occasionally be unavailable. Beta access does not guarantee that a feature will remain available in its present form.

Recovery Toolkit and Personal Information

Private Toolkit content — including journals, to-do items, habits, prayer lists, and private recovery details — is encrypted on your device and stored only in the browser or app you write in. A limited display-only copy of your recovery start date and time may also be stored locally without Toolkit encryption so the optional recovery counter can continue working while the Toolkit is locked. This display copy is not uploaded to White Owl Rising.

  • The app does not automatically upload, sync, analyze, or back up your Toolkit entries to White Owl Rising, or send their contents to AI or analytics services.
  • After unlocking, you can deliberately preview and share or copy selected plaintext, or export it through the available controls. Nothing is shared automatically. Recipients and apps you choose follow their own privacy rules.
  • You can create a password-encrypted local backup and choose where to save it. A cloud drive or other destination you choose follows its own privacy rules; we do not keep a backup for you.
  • Entries may be lost if you clear browser, site, or app data, use private browsing, switch browsers or devices, forget your PIN, or lose the device. What an uninstall or app removal leaves behind varies by browser, device, and operating system, so do not rely on uninstalling alone as a secure deletion method. Only you can restore backed-up data on your device with an existing valid backup and its separate password after creating or unlocking a Toolkit. White Owl Rising cannot recover your PIN, access your private entries, or perform restoration for you; do not send us your backup or password.
  • Anyone who can use your unlocked device or browser profile may be able to read what is stored there. Use a device lock, and delete entries if that is safer for you.
  • Deleting an entry or resetting the Toolkit removes local data, not previously shared, copied, exported, or backed-up copies. An existing valid backup and its password can restore the data it contains, even if you deleted it locally later.

White Owl Rising is not a healthcare provider, health insurer, or emergency-response service. The Recovery Toolkit is not intended to serve as an electronic medical record or HIPAA-compliant medical-record system.

Our handling of information is further described in our Privacy Policy.

Third-Party Links

The App links to organizations and websites we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, services, safety, availability, or privacy practices, and a link is not an endorsement.

Intellectual Property

Where protected by applicable intellectual-property law, app materials are owned by the operator or their respective licensors. We do not claim ownership of third-party prayers, names or marks, public facts, or purely AI-generated output, or claim that any material is registered. You may use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes and may share links to it. You may not copy, republish, resell, or create derivative works from the App or its data without our written permission. Third-party names and marks belong to their respective owners.

You retain ownership of your own private writing. Keeping it in the Toolkit does not transfer rights to White Owl Rising.

The copying restriction above does not prevent copying or sharing complete Awaken with Wisdom daily writings through the app's permitted reading and sharing features, including the app link, or your voluntary sharing, copying, export, and backup of your own private Toolkit content. Directory scraping, bulk copying, republication, and resale remain restricted.

Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the App is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted or error-free availability.

Limitation of Liability

Only to the extent permitted by applicable law, White Owl Rising, its operator, and volunteers exclude liability for consequential or indirect damages arising from use of the App or reliance on directory information. This provision does not release claims for our own negligence.

This exclusion does not apply to fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, or any liability, remedy, or duty that applicable law does not allow to be excluded or limited.

Your Rights Are Preserved

Nothing in these Terms waives rights or remedies or limits duties or liability that applicable law does not permit limiting, including applicable Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act and privacy rights. You retain access to regulators and courts and any nonwaivable statutory remedies. These safeguards govern the disclaimers and limitations above if there is a conflict.

Corrections and Removal Requests

If you are an organization and want your listing corrected, updated, or removed, or if you believe information in the App is inaccurate, contact us at whiteowlrisingofficial@gmail.com or use the report form. We review requests in good faith and act within a reasonable time.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms apply prospectively from their stated release/effective date, not retroactively. When we materially change these Terms, we will ask you to agree again before opening private tools. Minor wording changes do not require you to agree again each time you open the Toolkit.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, where permitted by applicable law. Venue is in Texas state or federal courts where permitted by applicable law and subject to jurisdiction and court rules; this does not override a mandatory venue or jurisdiction requirement.

Severability, No Waiver, and Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in full effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and White Owl Rising regarding the App.

Acceptance

Before creating or opening your private Toolkit, if this browser has no agreement record for the current Terms, you must separately select “I agree to the Terms of Use,” “I have read the Privacy Policy,” and “I am 13 or older,” then select “Agree and continue.” The app saves only the Terms version and the time you agreed on this device; the record is not uploaded. With this record saved, you do not need to agree again each time you open the Toolkit. Declining or inability to save the record leaves private entries unchanged and private tools locked. Public resources, legal pages, emergency actions, and existing account access remain available.

Public browsing is not an affirmative logged agreement. The device-only record does not verify your identity or age, is not a server record of your agreement, and does not guarantee legal enforceability. Reading the Privacy Policy is an acknowledgement, not statutory consent to sensitive-data processing or marketing.
